THE MAGIC OF THE WORLD

It is the season of Lughnasadh, as we near the half way point of Summer. The first harvest is upon us, and we get to relish in the true generosity of the Earth.
​

We get to reap what the partnership of sun, rain, and soil has transformed from seed to fruit.

​
This truly magical alchemy, that we often take for granted, is showcasing itself to tell us: magic is real. And it lives inside and through every inch of this Earth.

​

I was having a conversation with a dear friend last week about the magical nature of the Earth, and how sometimes we experience it more concretely in the form of synchronicity.

​

She was recounting the story of a beautiful experience to me, where she was communing with the air and an old Oak tree. She experienced a few wild synchronicities that didn’t make sense to the mind.

​

The air and the wind were responding to her in direct and significant ways as she was opening herself to the spirit of Oak. She is someone who deeply feels and knows magic is real, and also was astounded and perplexed by her experience. But HOW?! How does this happen!?
​

The more I practice magic, or sit with plant spirits, or participate in healing ritual and ceremony, the more I live in awe of the mystery of Life.

​

The more I am truly astonished by the synchronicities and magical nature of the Universe. The more I drop to my knees in wonder and gratitude.
​

It would be false to say I know exactly how it all works. I don’t think anyone does, no matter how sure they sound. There’s a lot of people out there who will tell you exactly how the consciousness of the Universe works.
​

But I think anyone who is so sure is already on their way to missing something big.

​

Curiosity and openness get shut down in the face of assuredness. And the dancing, ethereal, and always morphing nature of reality doesn’t like to be locked down and concretized.

​

I think we understand pieces, glimmers, or a clarity around a certain texture or certain zoomed-in portion of the whole. But I don’t think we can, or are meant to, fully know.

​

This is why so many traditions speak of the Great Mystery. Or the Magical nature of Life. From our little human vantage point, we simply can't see or know the full picture of the nature of reality.
​

​

What I do know is that our energy is interwoven with the energies of all things.

​

What I do know is that when we get still and open enough we can hear and feel and receive messages from wild and invisible sources.

​

What I do know is that quantum entanglement is real, and that my thoughts/intentions/energetic state can impact another object, or being, across the world or across the stars.

​

What I do know is that magic is real. That magic is the natural state of the world. And that I just have to open myself to miracles and they prove themselves to be true.

​

When we set an intention, or pray, or open ourselves up to be supported by Mystery, we are answered. Maybe not in the way we are expecting or hoping, but there are answers and wisdom being shown all around us, all the time.
​

When we give ourselves time and space to open, to listen, and to receive, we are always met.

​
