Welcome Winter!

Yesterday we entered the threshold of Winter Solstice.

The sacred darkness meets us here for a well-deserved pause, before we embark on our journey back towards the light.

Solstice means “sun stands still,” as it appears that the sun hovers for a few days on the horizon line before making its journey back upwards.

We are still in the Solstice portal now for a couple days.

A portal where we get to feel how death transitions to birth.

Where the great mystery of darkness whispers blessings upon us for our awakening, whispers seeds of creation that only we can realize.

In the stillness of dark, these seeds of awakening are planted.

And in this fresh season of Winter, we incubate.

Like the Earth, during these first gentle weeks of growing light it is so nourishing for us to go slow. To stay close to the wisdom of the darkness.

Winter is guided by the element of Earth. Slow, stable, steady, and comforting.

What if you were Earth in motion? How would you move? Would you move at all?

The medicine of stillness and slowness is so liberating, as it extracts us from the unsustainable pace of modernity, and enters us back into direct relationship with our deep inner landscape.

We are invited to notice and observe, to expand our perception, and drop deeper into relationship with the living world around us. Mindfulness is one of the juiciest bits of Winter's medicine.

With mindfulness, we make slow, careful, deliberate preparations for our prolonged journey of unfurling towards the light.

We are tender with the seeds the darkness planted deep in our bellies.

With Earth's oversight, the winter season is all about growing the containers and structures in our lives in order to support the dreams we are dreaming for the coming year.

Winter and Earth invite us to tend to our body, to nourish ourselves in all the ways we need, create rituals that fortify us, and grow the capacity to carry forth our visions for the year.

What did Darkness plant into your belly this year?

Ways you can explore your relationship with Winter + Earth:

1) Become a free member of The Golden Stone Wisdom School to access the Library which now has a section with writings on Exploring Winter’s Medicine, including a video on How to Celebrate Winter Solstice with Ritual and Plant Medicine.

2) Go deeper into the lived ritual of the seasons through Winter’s Inner Well. In this course, you’ll be guided to explore your personal relationship with the energetics of Winter more deeply, through guided embodied rituals, meditations, and reflective prompts. This course takes you on a specific journey of unfolding through the season of Winter.

Until Jan. 1, receive a FREE Sacred Seasons Winter Guidebook when you sign up for Winter's Inner Well.

3) Join us Jan. 3rd for a New Year's Circle with Lavender + Quartz. In this healing ceremony we'll commune with the spirit of lavender via the plant tincture, and I'll guide us in a collective ceremony to program healing into the earth with the help of the spirit of Quartz.

You'll also have an opportunity to charge your personal intentions into physical quartz crystals, and plant them in the Earth after the ceremony. A great way to plant your dreams for this coming year.

In deep bows of slowness,

GROUNDWATER HEALING & THE GOLDEN STONE WISDOM SCHOOL This will be short and sweet. Instead of something to read on the first Sunday of Spring, I'll offer you something to listen to. This past week I had a great conversation with April Jay Tasi on the "That What Spirit Said" podcast. Our convo naturally gravitated towards the Plants, as I often end up talking about them as a major part of my healing path and passion in the world. They were the first ones to land me back into a meaningful...

GROUNDWATER HEALING & THE GOLDEN STONE WISDOM SCHOOL As I write to you my fingertips are stain yellow by the resinous cottonwood buds I harvested earlier today, and the scent of cottonwood wafts up to greet me every now and again. I love this time of year because it heralds the promise of spring, and I get to work more closely with my plant friends. Cottonwood is always my first harvest of the year, and it feels so good to be out gathering again. (Please note - you never need to harvest the...

GROUNDWATER HEALING & THE GOLDEN STONE WISDOM SCHOOL For the next couple of days I'll be sharing more about my upcoming course, Infusing the Sacred Into Your Life. If you'd like to skip out on these extra emails, click here. "Where there is fear there is a lack of personal power." - Niecia Nelson I recently heard Niecia say this on a podcast, and it resonated deeply with me. Of course. Fear arises when it feels like we don’t have agency, like we don’t have choice. When we feel like we’re...
