I'm just returning back from Santa Fe, NM where I spent 3 days and nights over Summer Solstice weekend with a beautiful group of humans for our Sacred Fire Retreat.
In the Celtic Pagan tradition, Fire is exalted now as we step into the summer season, and we get to learn from this wisdom: the wisdom of warmth, of laughter, of creativity, of transformation, of spiritual devotion.
As we sat with the Fire (and Juniper, Cottonwood and Quaking Aspen) to help illuminate more of our inner knowing, and align our own inner fire more fully to the sacred fire of life, we gently held some specific questions I thought you might want to sit with yourself during this time of peak illuminating light…
🔥What does the Sacred Fire that lives within me want me to know?
🔥What feeds it? What does it need?
🔥How does it feel most alive?
🔥What do I desire and how is the world around me mirroring to me, and giving me insight around those desires?
🔥How can I live from a place that’s deeply rooted in inter-relationship with the world around me while also following my Sacred Fire within?
🔥How can I align my own Sacred Fire with the Sacred Fire of Life?
Every one of us received surprising, beautiful insights teachings and knowings from the deeper part of us that is the Fire, that is the Land.
It is a beautiful thing to witness, to hold space for, and also participate in the way the living world speaks through our encounters, our embodied experiences, our deep inner knowing.
The living world is always in conversation with us. We just don’t always tune ourselves to that radio station, that frequency. So when we give ourselves time to do that, it’s really such a gift to both us and the world.
What happens is that we begin to reclaim our inner terrain for ourselves again, embedded in the language of the Earth. Away from pavement and static and AI and the programs of who we think we need to be.
We reclaim our embodied territory, our embodied landscape as a wild-one again.
One colonized by Juniper and Rose and the Rivers of your childhood and the Songbird and the Wind.
And the more we reclaim the territory within us away from the forces of distortion and separation that have colonized our bodies and minds, the more we become ourselves. Ourselves that are a breathing part of the conscious world.
One distortion in myself that Fire helped me see is that I've always told the story that Fire has been the most challenging element for me. That Water and Earth have been where I feel most at home, that represent "me" the most (hence the name Groundwater).
But Fire told me pretty fiercely that I need to stop telling that story about myself, as it's a limited projection of who I truly am. (Which is interesting because I'm in the early stages of letting Groundwater go and transitioning more fully to Golden Stone... you'll hear about this more in a couple of months!!)
Fire showed me all the ways in which I embody fire and bring fire more fully into the world, and told me I needed to own the fire that I am. It felt so potent to feel and receive that mirror. Like a part of myself has been given permission to come more fully alive that was always there.
And for all of us, when we can feel and recognize we ARE the Earth, we ARE the elements, we ARE the sacred fire of life, everything shifts. We open ourselves to become the living magic of the Earth once again.
